Practical usage

Gave its name to "full break-in" (also written QSK) — CW operation where the receiver re-opens between individual dits and dahs, letting the other station interrupt mid-character. A genuinely common, actively-discussed modern term ("is your rig QSK-capable?"), distinct from semi break-in, which only switches between words or letters.
